Kim Sun Young is one of Sydney’s longest standing and famous Korean hair salon businesses. Originating in 1956 at the centre of Seoul City, South Korea with only 3 members, it has grown into a global business with salons in Australia and United States.
Their stylists are taught the art of Korean haircare and beauty through KSY’s educational schooling. Harnessing the latest techniques and trends from Korea, KSY prides themselves as a leading influence on the Korean fashion and beauty trends in Australia.
As a business with a rich history spanning several decades, one of the biggest challenges was aligning with the demands of the modern era. Their traditional reliance on walk-in customers became a hurdle, and the transition to appointment-based services proved challenging. This resulted in difficulties managing the flow of customers.
Compounding the challenge, their beauty clinic services remained largely undiscovered, overshadowed by their well-established reputation as a hair salon.
In response, we collaborated to formulate a comprehensive digital business strategy, aimed at effectively addressing and overcoming these intricacies.
When we first partnered with Kim Sun Young in 2022, they weren’t ready for new customers.
They were all set to boost their sales, but not so ready to handle more customers and grow. So, our first move was to jazz up their website and set up a slick booking system. While all that techie stuff was happening, we also kicked off some SEO work. And guess what? By the time we had the website and booking system up and running, they were already popping up on the first page of Google. That’s when things got really cool – their hairdressing business saw a crazy influx of new customers.
Then, beauty services grew by >10% month-on-month.
Moving forward, our focus shifted to tackling the issue of limited local market awareness regarding their beauty clinic services. To remedy this, we formulated and executed Facebook and Instagram campaigns, using hyperlocal targeting for their most accessible services – nails and eyelash extensions. The outcome was nothing short of remarkable: within a mere three-month span, Kim Sun Young’s beauty clinic experienced an astonishing month-on-month surge of 50% in revenue!
