Cassava Bags Australia came to Social X in 2022 during a pre-revenue startup stage: they had a concept product that was well received by users, but didn’t have the ability to take the product to market with volume.


Cassava Bags needed a campaign that would effectively communicate the environmental impact and the market potential of their product, as well as demonstrating to investors that this was an opportunity that their brand could change the world.

To help them raise capital through an equity crowdfunding, they enlisted Social X to take on their strategy and digital marketing over the course of their campaign. With millions of plastic bags being used every day in Australia, this raise was necessary to deliver the capital for them to take the disposable plastics industry by storm and be at the forefront of sustainability action in Australia. 


With a budget of only $10,000, we launched a full funnel social media and email marketing strategy which generated over 900 total EOI’s (Expressions of Interest). This translated into a significant investment of $596,000. The success of Cassava Bags Australia’s marketing campaign is a powerful demonstration of how social media can propel a business to greater heights.

This was only the start of their success; since being thrust into the spotlight, they have developed a global presence. CBA has signed partnerships with Bupa Global and Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF), as well as 3 of the largest disposable plastic packaging distributors in Australia. In their first year of operation, they already replaced over 1,000 tonnes of plastic bags with Cassava Bags.
